CHS Career Fair 2026

CHS Career Fair 2026Juniors and seniors at Chaparral High School spent their lunchtime Wednesday meandering through a sort of food court of possible future pathways.

The counseling team at Killeen ISD’s four-year-old high school organized its first-ever career fair and made sure it provided more than the usual career prep fare.

About 47 vendors represented a wide spectrum of businesses, colleges and universities and military services.

Some students took advantage of a salon’s offer of a free haircut provided on site.

Many students congregated around a pet obedience school, where they met a canine graduate.

They also met real estate agents, a scuba diving school operator, college and military recruiters, law enforcement officers and many others.

Before or after walking through the gym filled with guests, students could stop in the lobby for a studio photo for their resume.

Junior ROTC cadets served as ushers, helping with the set-up and take-down and escorting students and guests.

The counselors who organized the Future Forward Career Day said they noticed students using the college and career passports they provided to help them make contacts.

“We wanted to expose them to a lot of different businesses from Killeen and Temple and see what colleges and universities are down here to give them some ideas before they graduate,” said counselor Renata Adams.

“I see a great opportunity for students to see what’s available in their community whether they want to work first or go straight into college,” said counselor Tamara Ford. “They can meet some people who can help them post-graduation.”
